Much in the same way that it took me forever to start this blog, I was in the similar frame of mind when it came to YouTube.
Remember it doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be a start.

YouTube had always been a consuming product for me. When I was planning our holiday to Japan last year I had YouTube videos on our living room tv constantly.
I had my favourite creators that I binge watched all of their videos. Many notes added to my ever growing list of places to visit, food to eat, what to wear in Japan, what to pack, how to survive a long haul flight and travelling to Japan with kids. You get the idea.
So I had never seen myself as someone who would be able to post videos on YouTube. The little voice in my head told me that I didn’t have the necessary skillset to do that.
I had no idea what I’m doing, no one was going to watch my videos or listen to what I had to say.
A mindset change
It’s a hard thing tell that little voice to step down. I think once you do it then it becomes a little easier each time.
I took the leap. Because I realised that it didn’t matter if our channel got big. If anyone watched our videos or cared what we had to say. Providing you can actually understand us as you know, Scottish isn’t easy to understand at times.
It was more important to me to use these videos that I took from our holiday in Japan, to which I was actually really nervous to even film at times as it was such a new concept for me and looking back now I get annoyed at myself for not putting myself out there a little more, and to make these videos as a diary of our trip for W to look back on and remember what an awesome time we had.
Yes, I had to learn about editing and to be a bit hard when editing our footage as to me it was all worth it but it really didn’t need to all be included. I am hoping it is something that as I go forwards I learn a little more of to enable me to make better YouTube videos and create better content that is more enjoyable.
It is all a learning process, and I think the scary thing is sometimes just taking that first step. We are only at the very beginning of our blogging and vlogging journey, we have big plans for our future and I am very excited to where it will take us and what we can learn along the way.
So don’t step. Leap.
